Held annually, our Candlelight Vigil and Survivor Speakout begins in front of Burlington City Hall on Church Street. A local survivor will speak and share about the importance of coming together in solidarity during Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM).
Candles are lit and the crowd marches in silence to the First Unitarian Universalist Church at the top of Church Street. There, survivors have the opportunity to share their stories in a safe space through speaking, singing, reading something, or in whatever way they wish.
Media is invited and welcomed at the candlelight vigil and march, but are asked to not attend the speakout in order to provide a safe space for survivors.
