Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) is a pattern of violence or coercive behavior that someone uses to gain and maintain power and control over an intimate partner.
This type of abuse can be physical, mental, verbal, emotional, financial and/or sexual.
People of all races, ages, ethnicities, sexual orientations, gender identities or economic statuses can be affected by intimate partner violence.
Steps to End Domestic Violence serves
all survivors of intimate partner violence in Chittenden County, Vermont regardless of gender, economic status, ethnicity or sexual orientation.

Family Program
We support parents and children in navigating services and healing from the traumatic impacts of intimate partner violence.
Support Groups
Groups provide a safe, supportive, and confidential place to connect with others, heal, and recover. We offer multiple support groups for survivors from all backgrounds and experiences, and at all stages of their healing journeys.
Education & Outreach
We work to raise awareness about the impacts of IPV on individuals, families, and communities. We work with schools, businesses, community groups, and more to engage advocates in anti-violence work and inspire them to create a safer world for everyone.
Legal Advocacy
Our legal advocates provide information, help with legal systems and paperwork, and offer emotional support in the courtroom as individuals navigate criminal and family court processes.

Housing & Shelter
Steps offers shelter and housing services to qualifying individuals and families experiencing IPV. We run a 21-unit shelter and offer help navigating full time housing.
