-          Similar content to DV 101 but with additions related to patient disclosure, confidentiality, interviewing, the medical power and control wheel, and the unique role of health care providers in providing support and resources to the patients they serve who experience domestic violence

 

High School Presentations

Healthy Relationships and Consent

This presentation focuses on consent but offers opportunities for dialogues on healthy relationship components including the equality wheel and conflict resolution skills.

Objectives:

-          Learn about the equality wheel and the many qualities related to healthy relationships

-          Identify key differences in conflict resolution between healthy and unhealthy relationships

-          Brief overview of sexual violence and the importance of getting clear consent every time before and during engaging in sexual acts

-          The 5 pieces of consent that make it true and freely given

-          Prompt students to consider their values and boundaries related to sexual activities

 

Digital Citizenship

This presentation prepares high school students to make informed decisions about the type of content they post online, safety issues related to geotagging and other location tracking devices, and legal and social risks of engaging in sexting and related behaviors.

-          Discuss what it means to be a good digital citizen

-          Discuss technology abuse and prevalence among teens

-          Learn about textual harassment and cyberstalking

-          Overview of Vermont state laws surrounding minors and sexting

 

Teen Dating Violence 101 (Teen DV 101)

This presentation gives an overview of dating violence and it’s many manifestations for teens through the power and control wheel and the cycle of violence in abusive dynamics.

-          Give an overview of what teen dating violence is and its statistical prevalence

-          Understand the cyclical nature of abusive relationships and why it’s difficult to leave them

-          Identify the many manifestations of abusive behavior using the teen power and control wheel

-          Brief overview of consent, sexual violence and sexting
